Kuhlau Introduction and Variations Op.63 on a Theme from Carl Maria von Weber's Euryanthe (Flute & Piano)
Friedrich Kuhlau (1786-1832) composed the Variations on a Theme from "Euryanthe" as an homage to Carl Maria von Weber, whose "Freischütz" had rapidly made him famous among his contemporaries. Stylistically, Kuhlau's Euryanthe Variations are strikingly reminiscent of Schubert's Variations on "Trockne Blumen", with which they share a foremost position in Romantic flute repertoire.
