Janacek Cartak on Solan (Study Score)
Scored for male chorus with orchestra, Na Soláni čarták (Solan on Cartak) is one of the beautiful examples of Janáček's love for his native land. In the composition, Janáček describes the exuberant revelry of the Wallachian people in a tavern called Čarták, on a hill in the Beskydy Mountains, at Soláň near Velké Karlovice. It is a setting of the poem Na Soláni čarták by the then judge in Prostějov, Dr. Maxmilián Kunert, which was published under the poet's pseudonym M. Kurt.
